Mansion Hill Inn was built in 1861 for Daniel D. Brown, an Albany brush maker. This cluster of Victorian era buildings once served as the residence of several of Albany’s early extended families. During most recent decades, the restaurant served as one of the south end’s most popular taverns, and in earlier days as a bulk grocery store.
Mansion Hill is now owned and operated by Mary Ellen and Steve Stofelano Jr, who purchased it 1984 and began the complete rehabilitation of 115 Philip Street, into the current inn and restaurant.
This is Albany County’s only AAA approved Three Diamond Bed & Breakfast Inn and Restaurant. The Mansion Hill Inn is conveniently located within a five minute walk to the Times Union Center, the Egg, the Empire State Plaza, museum or Capital buildings. Also a short walk to the Corning Preserve on the Hudson River, historic homes and nightlife in downtown Albany, along Pearl Street. We are also located 2 hours from New York City and ½ to Saratoga, Saratoga Race Track and Gaming Resort, one hour from the Adirondack Mountains, Lake George and many ski areas, including Vermont and the Catskill Mountains.
