La Veta is conveniently located half way between Denver and Santa Fe and is only 18 miles southwest of Interstate 25. The original La Veta Hotel was built in 1876, Colorado’s centennial year.  The hotel burned and was subsequently re-built in the 1940’s. This charming town is gigantic in scope, with its rich cultural diversity, a spectacular mountain setting, abundance of wildlife, recreational opportunities and its proximity to the many wonders of Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico.   

The historic La Veta Inn has earned the reputation of being “the place” to gather, dine and stay while visiting La Veta.  Located within steps of the train depot, town park, Ricky Tims world renowned quilt gallery and the La Veta School of the Arts, the Inn is the natural hub for train enthusiasts, event participants and workshop attendees. The Inn also plays host to countless reunions, weddings and celebrations. The front dining room comfortably seats 40 with the current seating arrangement. The rear dining room comfortably seats 20 with the current seating arrangement, although the adjacent saloon, dance floor, conference room and courtyard can easily be used to accommodate another 120 or so seats for the restaurant.
